The municipal council elections in Lower Austria in 2005 took place on March 6, 2005 in most of Lower Austria's municipalities. In contrast to other federal states, the mayor in Lower Austria is determined by the municipal council and not elected by direct elections.

The next municipal council elections took place on March 14, 2010 .

Result

While the ÖVP achieved a plus of about half a percentage point, the FPÖ lost more than 4.5 percentage points. The SPÖ (+ 3.6) and Greens (+ 1.25) also increased.
