Bergland is a municipality with 1938 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the Melk district in Lower Austria .

geography

Bergland is located in the Lower Austrian Mostviertel on both sides of the Erlauf north of Wieselburg . The area of ​​the municipality covers 33.87 km², 17.4% of the area is forested.

Community structure

The community consists of the only village Bergland or the cadastral communities :

  • Mountain country
  • Gumprechtsberg including Annatsberg, Dürnbach , Lehen, Preßbach and Schöllenbach
  • Holzing including Echling, Fohra, Königstetten, Oberweinzierlberg, Pyhra, Reidl, Unterweinzierlberg and Weinzierlberg
  • Landfriedstetten including Dollbach, Hosinghof, Kendl, Reith and Schwannerfelden

history

In ancient times the area was part of the Roman province of Noricum .

Bergland is a young community; it emerged from the earlier communities Landfriedstetten and Ratzenberg, which merged in 1968, and Holzing and Gumprechtsberg (affiliated in 1972).

Population development

According to the results of the 2001 census , there were 1747 inhabitants. In 1991 the community had 1614 inhabitants, in 1981 1528 and in 1971 1511 inhabitants.

economy

In 2001 there were 65 non-agricultural workplaces, agricultural and forestry businesses according to the 1999 survey 141. The number of people in work in the place of residence was 856 according to the 2001 census. In 2001 the activity rate was 50.2%. On the border with Wieselburg one was Hofer KG -Filiale built.
