Artstetten-Pöbring is a market town with 1218 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the Melk district in Lower Austria .
geography
Artstetten-Pöbring is located in the southern Waldviertel on the Danube in Lower Austria. The area of the market town covers 27.27 km². 42.56 percent of the area is forested.

history
Artstetten was named as a village in 1407 and was first mentioned as a market in 1691 .
The community was created in 1967 from the merger of the communities Artstetten, Fritzelsdorf, Nussendorf, Harth, Pöbring and Payerstetten.
Population development
According to the results of the 2001 census , there were 1178 inhabitants. In 1991 the market town had 1170 inhabitants, in 1981 1143 and in 1971 1148 inhabitants.

The municipal council has 19 seats.
- In the 2005 municipal council elections , the ÖVP won 15 and the SPÖ 4 seats.
- In the municipal council elections in 2010 , the Social Democrats competed as SPÖ - List Hansbauer (SPÖ) and gained 3 seats.
- In the 2015 municipal council elections , 13 seats were allocated to the ÖVP and 6 to the SPÖ - Hansbauer list .
- In the 2020 municipal council elections, 14 seats went to the ÖVP, 3 to the SPÖ and 2 to the Greens.

In 2010 there were 113 agricultural and forestry holdings in the municipality . As of 2011, 52 non-agricultural workplaces were also identified. The number of people in employment at the place of residence was 631 in 2011, which corresponds to an employment rate of 55.18 percent.
