Bischofstetten is a market town with 1230 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the Melk district in Lower Austria .

geography

Bischofstetten is located in the hilly landscape of the Lower Austrian Mostviertel, 17 kilometers by road southwest of St. Pölten . The area of ​​the market town covers 18.99 square kilometers. 23.87 percent of the area is forested.

According to the results of the 2001 census , there were 1186 inhabitants. In 1991 the market town had 1144 inhabitants, in 1981 there were 1086 and in 1971 a total of 1071 inhabitants.
