The Lower Saxony Ministry of Justice is one of ten ministries of the country Lower Saxony . It is based on Waterlooplatz in the Lower Saxony state capital Hanover . The ministry has been headed by Barbara Havliza (nominated by the CDU ) since 2017 , and State Secretary is Stefan von der Beck .

tasks

The ministry is responsible for the courts and public prosecutor's offices in Lower Saxony. In addition, it organizes the penal system and is involved in legislation at the state and federal level.

In addition to the press office and the ministerial office, the Lower Saxony Ministry of Justice is divided into five departments:

  • Department I: Administration of Justice
  • Department II: Civil Law, Public Law
  • Department III: Prison
  • Division IV: Criminal Law
  • State Judicial Examination Office (LJPA)
