The Ministry of Justice of the State of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (short form: JM MV ) with its seat in Schwerin is one of eight ministries of the state administration. The current incumbent is Katy Hoffmeister ( CDU ), and Birgit Gärtner supports her as State Secretary .
history
After the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania was founded in 1945, there were initially no traditional ministries, but departments subordinate to the president or vice-president. In 1950, the Justice Department was formed into a Ministry of Justice, which was headed by Günther Ludwig . It was dissolved again in the same year.
It was not until Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania was re-established in 1990 that a Ministry of Justice was set up again as the Ministry of Justice, Federal and European Affairs . In 1994 the “Federal Affairs” division was transferred to the State Chancellery and the “European Affairs” division to the Ministry of Economic Affairs . The latter came back to the Ministry of Justice for another 2 years in 1996. The ministry has had its current name since 1998.
The ministry is located in the New Town Palace at the address Puschkinstraße 19-21.
