Katy Hoffmeister (born April 17, 1973 in Kühlungsborn ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and since November 1, 2016 Minister of Justice of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .

Life

Hoffmeister studied law at the University of Rostock , where she passed the first state examination in 1996. After completing her legal clerkship in Schleswig-Holstein from 1997 to 1999, she passed the second state examination.

From 2000 to 2003 she worked as an assistant at the Law Faculty of the University of Rostock. From 2003 to 2016 she worked in the management of the Rostock University Medical Center, most recently as Head of Human Resources and Legal Affairs and Deputy Commercial Director.

Hoffmeister has been a member of the CDU since 1999 and is a member of the state executive.

In 2013 she ran for the office of district administrator in the Rostock district . After she was able to unite the most votes in the first ballot, she was defeated in the runoff election by SPD candidate Sebastian Constien with 49.3% of the votes.

On November 1, 2016, Hoffmeister was sworn in as the successor to Uta-Maria Kuder as Minister of Justice in the cabinet .

Katy Hoffmeister is married to the rector of the University of Wismar and former vice-chairman of the SPD , Bodo Wiegand-Hoffmeister .
