The Schwesig Cabinet is the state government of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in the 7th legislative period under the leadership of Manuela Schwesig , which continues the coalition government formed by Erwin Sellering after the state elections on September 4, 2016 and the subsequent coalition negotiations between ministers of the SPD and the CDU . The cabinet was sworn in on July 4, 2017 after Schwesig was elected by the state parliament . Manuela Schwesig succeeded Sellering, who suffered from cancer, as Prime Minister. The Schwesig cabinet is the tenth cabinet in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania since the country was established after German unification in 1990.
