Harry Glawe (born December 15, 1953 in Greifswald ) is a German politician ( CDU ). Since 1994 he has been a member of the state parliament of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and since October 2011 Minister for Economy, Building and Tourism , since November 2016 for Economy, Labor and Health.

Life

Glawe trained as a nurse at the medical college in Greifswald from 1970 to 1973 . From 1973 he worked at the Clinic for Neurology and Psychiatry at the Ernst Moritz Arndt University of Greifswald . From 1978 to 1980 he completed advanced training as a specialist nurse at the Greifswald Medical School and then worked as a ward manager at the university clinic until 1991. In 1985 he began distance learning at the Humboldt University in Berlin , which he completed in 1989 as a qualified nurse.

Glawe is Protestant, married and has three children.

Political career

Glawe joined the CDU in March 1990 and became district manager of the CDU Grimmen in 1991, which he remained until 1994. He then became a member of the CDU's SME Association and was also a member of the district council of Grimmen and its district council president from 1990 to 1994. Since 1994 Glawe has been a member of the city council of Grimmen and city president of the district town of Grimmen. After leaving the district council of Grimmen, he became a member of the district council of North Western Pomerania in 1994 and chaired the social and health committee there. Since 2003 he has been the district chairman of the CDU North Western Pomerania and a member of the health management board of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

In the state elections in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in 1994 , Glawe entered the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania state parliament . He has been a member of it since November 15, 1994. From 1998 to 2006 he was deputy chairman of the CDU parliamentary group and from November 2006 to February 2009 its parliamentary director. From February 2009 to October 2011 he was chairman of the CDU parliamentary group. In the state elections in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in 2006 , he moved in through the direct mandate in constituency 24 - Nordvorpommern II . In the state elections in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in 2011 , Glawe achieved the best first vote result with a share of 49.9% of the votes and thus again entered the state parliament via the direct mandate in constituency 24. On October 25, 2011, Prime Minister Erwin Sellering appointed him Minister of Economics, Building and Regional Development. In the state elections in 2016 , Glawe achieved 42.8% in his constituency of Vorpommern-Rügen II - Stralsund III .
