Torsten Renz (* 13 August 1964 in Güstrow ) is a German politician of the CDU .

After attending the polytechnic high school and training as a machine and system fitter with a high school diploma as well as basic military service in the NVA , Renz completed a degree at the TU Magdeburg from 1986 to 1991 , which he completed in 1991 as a graduate engineer and pedagogue. He then worked as a vocational school teacher for metal technology in the heating and plumbing department in Güstrow until 2002.

Torsten Renz belongs to the city council in Güstrow for the CDU, since 1999 as parliamentary group chairman. Since 1999 he has also been a member of the Güstrow district assembly (since 2011: Rostock district ). From 2002 to 2006, Renz was a member of the state parliament of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania for the first time . A re-election in 2006 was initially unsuccessful, as only two members of the CDU were elected via the state list. Between 2007 and 2009, Renz was a consultant in the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Ministry of Economics. From 17 July 2009, he was again a member of the state parliament, in which he, instead of by its election to the European Parliament retired deputies Werner Kuhnmoved up. Renz was the domestic political spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group. In the state elections in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in 2011 , he was re-elected via the state list. On October 24, 2011 he was elected deputy chairman of the parliamentary group. He was also deputy chairman of the Committee on Education, Science and Culture and labor market policy spokesman for his group. In the state elections in 2016 he entered the Schwerin state parliament again via the CDU state list. In September 2016 he was elected Parliamentary Managing Director of the CDU parliamentary group. Since the end of February 2020 he has been chairman of the CDU parliamentary group in the Schwerin state parliament.
