Werner Kuhn (born May 19, 1955 in Zingst ) is a German politician ( CDU ). from 2009 to 2019 he was a member of the European Parliament and the only MEP from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in the EPP-ED Group .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1973, Kuhn completed basic military service in Barth and began his studies at the University of Rostock , which he obtained as a Dipl.-Ing. graduated in marine technology. From 1979 he worked as a technologist in the shipbuilding and repair yard in Barth.

politics

From 1990 to 1992 he was mayor of the Baltic resort of Zingst, then until 1994 district administrator of the Ribnitz-Damgarten district . Then he was of 10 November 1994 to 26 October 1998, initially as a candidate for the constituency Rostock-Land - Ribnitz-Damgarten - Teterow - Malchin , Member of the German Bundestag and again from 15 August 2001, when he for Paul Kruger nachrückte, until the federal election in 2005 . Extra-parliamentary activities

He is an assessor of the CDU state board of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and honorary president of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania regional association of the German Red Cross . He is also Vice President of the Support Group for Business in Central and Eastern Germany and a member of the Support Group German Army . Since 1995 Kuhn has been a member of the KDStV Staufia Bonn in the Cartell Association of Catholic German Student Associations (CV).
