Otto Ebnet

Otto Ebnet (born September 15, 1944 in Regensburg ) is a German politician ( SPD ).

From 2001 to 2006 he was Minister of Economic Affairs and from 2006 to 2008 Minister for Transport, Building and Regional Development for the State of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .

Life and work

After graduating from the Albrecht-Altdorfer-Gymnasium in Regensburg in 1965, Ebnet did his military service and from 1967 completed a degree in economics at the University of Regensburg , which he completed in 1972 with a degree in economics. He then worked as a research assistant at the University of Regensburg until 1977. In 1977, he was here with work , the taxation of capital gains - a theoretical approach in the context of income taxation for Dr. rer. pole. PhD .

He then became an official in the Federal Ministry of Finance . Here he was, among other things, personal assistant to the Federal Minister of Finance, Hans Matthöfer . In 1986 he was given leave of absence as a civil servant for his work as a research assistant in the SPD parliamentary group in the field of economic and financial policy.

In November 2008 Ebnet became economic advisor to the new Schwerin mayor Angelika Gramkow ( Die Linke ).

Otto Ebnet has been married since 1972 and has two children.

Public offices

In 1994 he was appointed State Secretary in the Ministry of Economic Affairs in the state government of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania led by Prime Minister Berndt Seite ( CDU ). In 1996 he moved to the Ministry of Finance in the same position.

After the state elections in 1998, Ebnet was appointed head of the state chancellery in the state government now headed by Harald Ringstorff on November 3, 1998 .

From April 17, 2001 to November 6, 2006 Ebnet was Minister of Economics for the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. From November 7, 2006 to October 6, 2008 he was Minister for Transport, Building and Regional Development in Harald Ringstorff's SPD / CDU cabinet.

After Ringstorff resigned as Prime Minister of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Otto Ebnet left the state government.
