The Sellering I cabinet was the state government of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania after Harald Ringstorff ( SPD ) resigned as Prime Minister. His successor Erwin Sellering , who until then was Minister for Social Affairs and Health, continued the grand coalition with the CDU . The Sellering I government was in office from October 6, 2008 to October 25, 2011.

The grand coalition under Erwin Sellering

Together with Ringstorff, Finance Minister Sigrid Keler and the previous Minister for Transport, Building and Regional Development Otto Ebnet (both SPD) resigned. With the move to the State Chancellery, Sellering vacated his previous ministerial post. A comprehensive reshuffle of the cabinet was therefore necessary. New in the government were Heike Polzin (Finance), Volker Schlotmann (Transport, Construction and Regional Development) and Manuela Schwesig a (Health and Welfare). Of the SPD ministers, only Till Backhaus (agriculture, environment and consumer protection) remained in his office.

In the vote in the state parliament of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania on October 6, 2008 Sellering received 40 out of 45 possible votes from the coalition partners SPD and CDU.
