Jost Mediger

Jost Mediger (born September 16, 1948 in Hanover ) is a German political official . From 1998 to 2012 he was State Secretary in the Ministry of Finance of the State of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .

Career

After graduating from high school in 1967, Mediger, a son of the historian Prof. Dr. Walther Mediger , studied law in Kiel and Geneva from 1967 to 1972. He spent his legal clerkship in the district of the Higher Regional Court of Schleswig. From 1974 to 1976 he was a research assistant at the University of Kiel, in 1978 he was awarded a Dr. jur. PhD.

In 1977 he joined the state administration of Hamburg and became a councilor in the tax administration. From 1979 to 1982 he was an assistant in the Hamburg tax authorities . In the following years he took on positions of increasing responsibility, most recently from 1987 onwards as Senior Government Director, Head of Department and Deputy Head of Department in the financial administration.

In August 1992 he was seconded to the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Ministry of Finance, and on November 1, 1992, he was finally transferred there. As ministerial director he was head of the tax department from 1992 to 1994, after which he was head of the budget and finance department until his appointment as state secretary.

On November 13, 1998 he was appointed State Secretary in the Ministry of Finance of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. On October 29, 2012, he retired at the age of 64.

Jost Mediger is married and has two children.
