Henry Tesch

Henry Tesch (* 4. November 1962 in Schwerin ) is a German politician of the CDU and Mayor of Mirow . From 2006 to 2011 Tesch was Minister for Education, Science and Culture for the State of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .

Private life

After attending the polytechnic high school , Tesch completed vocational training with a high school diploma from 1979 to 1982 and then did basic military service with the Coastal Border Brigade of the National People's Army until 1985 . He then studied German and history until 1990 at the "Clara Zetkin" University of Education in Leipzig . Afterwards he worked as a teacher for German and history at the Carolinum grammar school in Neustrelitz until 2006 . In 2002 Tesch became headmaster of the Carolinum grammar school.

Henry Tesch is married and has two daughters.

politics

Since 1994 Tesch has been a member of the community council of his place of residence Roggentin . Since 1999 he has been mayor of the community of Roggentin, which was incorporated by Mirow in 2014 . In 2006 Tesch joined the CDU. After the state elections in 2006, the SPD and CDU formed a grand coalition, and Tesch was appointed Minister for Education, Science and Culture in the state government of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania led by Prime Minister Harald Ringstorff ( SPD ). In 2009 Tesch was the rotating chairman of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany (KMK). Tesch was criticized several times by the subsequent Prime Minister Erwin Sellering .

During his time as minister in 2009, the first school law for Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania was passed. In it the schools were given more rights to self- control. In 2011, the main tasks in teacher training were transferred from the study seminars directly to the schools. As KMK President, in a recommendation from the KMK, he pushed through that November 9 should be taken up as a project day in schools. The first school attempts at inclusion began on Rügen . In 2012, Tesch proposed that teaching staff should become civil servants , which is unusual in the country , in order to keep teaching trainee teachers in the country and to create additional incentives for teaching at a state school. His successor Mathias Brodkorb (SPD) implemented this.

Tesch has been chairman of the foundation board of the Mecklenburg Foundation since 2010 and chairman of the board of directors of the Friends of the Mirow Palace since 2011 .

Tesch has been the mayor of Mirow since October 2018 .
