Marianne Tidick (born November 1, 1942 in Hamburg ) is a German politician ( SPD ).

From 1988 to 1990 she was Minister for Federal Affairs, from 1990 to 1993 Minister of Education and from 1993 to 1996 Minister of Science of Schleswig-Holstein .

education and profession

After graduating from high school in 1962, Marianne Tidick completed a teaching degree in German and English , which she completed with the first state examination in 1968 and the second in 1970 with the second state examination for higher teaching qualifications. After that she only worked briefly as a teacher in Hamburg and joined the Federal Ministry of Education and Science as a consultant in 1971 . In 1976 she changed to the Stiftung Jugend forscht eV as managing director and from 1987 onwards she was general secretary of the federal-state commission for educational planning and research funding .

Public offices

On May 31, 1988, she was appointed Minister for Federal Affairs in the Schleswig-Holstein state government led by Prime Minister Björn Engholm . On June 1, 1990, she took over the management of the Ministry of Education, Science, Youth and Culture. In addition, she was Deputy Prime Minister from May 31, 1988. After the state elections in 1992, she was reappointed to the state government on May 5, 1992 as Minister for Education, Science, Culture and Sport. After the resignation of Björn Engholm and the subsequent election of Heide Simonis as Prime Minister, she was appointed Minister for Science, Research and Culture on May 19, 1993. After the state elections in 1996, she left the government on May 22, 1996.
