Wilhelm Siegel

Wilhelm Siegel (born December 15, 1890 in Hamburg , † November 5, 1977 ) was a German educator and politician of the ( SPD ).

Life and work

After attending elementary school, Siegel completed a teachers' seminar, which he finished with the examination for teaching at elementary schools. He then worked as a primary school teacher. From 1916 to 1918 he took part in the First World War as a soldier .

Political party

Siegel was a member of the KPD from 1918 to 1923 . He joined the SPD in 1946 and was a member of the SPD Stormarn district executive from 1949 to 1951 and from 1957 to 1963.

MP

Siegel was elected to the Stormarn District Council in 1946. From 1947 to 1967 he was a member of the state parliament of Schleswig-Holstein . From 1954 to 1967 he was chairman of the popular education committee. He also served as Vice President of the State Parliament from 1958 to 1967.

Public offices

Siegel was district administrator of the Stormarn district from 1946 to 1956. From August 29, 1949 to September 5, 1950, he was Minister of Public Education in the government of Schleswig-Holstein led by Prime Minister Bruno Diekmann .
