Live and act
Dorgerloh, son of pastor Fritz Dorgerloh , studied theology at the University of Rostock and at the Humboldt University of Berlin between 1987 and 1993 after training as an interior construction worker with high school diploma in Potsdam and serving as a construction soldier in the NVA . From 1995 to 1997 he completed the vicariate in Berlin and Chicago .
In 1998 Dorgerloh became head of studies for socio-political youth education at the Evangelical Academy of Saxony-Anhalt. In 1999 he became deputy director, from 2000 to 2008 Dorgerloh was director of the Evangelical Academy. On behalf of the State Parliament of Saxony-Anhalt, he headed the Saxony-Anhalt Education Convention from 2007 to 2010.
Dorgerloh was a member of several regional synods and a deputy member of the EKD synod. From 2002 to 2008 he was a member of the church leadership of the Evangelical Church in the ecclesiastical province of Saxony. In September 2008, the EKD Council appointed him as the representative for the Luther Decade based in Lutherstadt Wittenberg. From January 2009 to March 2012 he was managing director of the newly established Evangelical Wittenberg Foundation .
On April 19, 2011 Dorgerloh became Saxony-Anhalt Minister of Education in the Haseloff I cabinet for the SPD. In 2013 Dorgerloh was President of the Conference of Ministers of Education . International criticism was directed against Dorgerloh when the Board of Trustees of the Dessau Bauhaus (whose chairman Dorgerloh was) did not renew the contract of director Philipp Oswalt in November 2013. Oswalt accused Dorgerloh of "power politics".
Dorgerloh was one of the losers in the coalition negotiations after the state elections in Saxony-Anhalt in 2016 , after which the previously ruling parties CDU and SPD formed a so-called Kenya coalition with Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen and the CDU enforced its claim to the Ministry of Culture. Dorgerloh was replaced on April 25, 2016 by CDU politician Marco Tullner , who is Minister of Education in Haseloff II's cabinet ; the ministerial responsibility for culture went to State Secretary Gunnar Schellenberger .
His brother is Hartmut Dorgerloh , General Director of the Humboldt Forum in Berlin.
