Steffie Schnoor
Steffie Lamers (formerly Schnoor , née Schindler; born August 19, 1948 in Berlin ) is a German educator and politician ( CDU ).
Life and work
After graduating from high school in 1969, Schnoor studied English and technical works at the Freiburg University of Education from 1970 to 1972 , then entered the school service of the State of Berlin and passed the second state examination in 1974 for the subjects of English and sport. In 1979 she became principal of a comprehensive school and in 1983 deputy principal of the Heinrich Mann Oberschule in Berlin-Neukölln .
In 1985, Schnoor was given the supervision of primary schools and the Berlin-Tiergarten comprehensive school , was appointed school councilor in 1986 and since 1989 she has been responsible for some schools in lower secondary level, some primary schools and the Berlin-Tiergarten comprehensive school. She was also president of the German Volleyball Association (DVV) from 1995 to 1997 . Today she is Vice President for Education in the Brandenburg State Sports Association .
Political party
Schnoor has been a member of the CDU since 1977. After Angela Merkel had been elected federal chairman of the CDU, she took over the state chairmanship of the CDU Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in May 2000 . In November 2001 she was replaced in this position by Eckhardt Rehberg .
MPs
Schnoor was a member of the Berlin House of Representatives in 1990/91 . From 1994 to 2002 she was a member of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania state parliament, where she was the spokesperson for education policy for the CDU parliamentary group.
Public offices
Schnoor served as State Secretary for Science and Research in the Berlin Senate in 1991, and in the same year she was chairwoman of the Conference of Heads of Office of the Standing Conference of Education Ministers. On March 31, 1992, she was appointed minister of education to the government of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania led by Prime Minister Berndt Seite . In 1993 she was also the first female minister of an East German state to be president of the Standing Conference of Ministers of Education. After the formation of a coalition of CDU and SPD , she left the government on December 9, 1994. From November 1999 to April 2000 she was Minister of Education for the UNMIK administration in Kosovo.
