The Landessportbund Brandenburg eV is the umbrella organization of the sports clubs and associations of the State of Brandenburg with seat in Potsdam and is a member of the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) . The LSB Brandenburg was founded on September 15, 1990 and emerged from the DTSB districts of Potsdam, Frankfurt (Oder) and Cottbus . The LSB Brandenburg currently has 3,022 sports clubs with a total of 351,030 members, which corresponds to a level of organization of a good 14 percent of the total population (as of January 2019). Wolfgang Neubert has been President since November 26, 2011. The position of CEO is currently held by Andreas Gerlach. The LSB Brandenburg promotes popular, competitive and top-class sport.

State Sports Day

The state sports day is the supreme body of the LSB. It is responsible for the decision-making and control in all LSB matters, unless the statutes have delegated these tasks to other organs of the LSB. According to the statutes, the state sports day is to be convened every four years. It consists of the representatives of the member associations, the members of the Presidium, the members of the Complaints Committee, the auditors and the general manager. Resolutions are passed with a simple majority of the votes of the voters present. A tie is considered a rejection. Changes to the statutes require a two-thirds majority.

The tasks include:

  • the receipt of the reports from the presidium, the cash auditors and the complaints committee,
  • the discharge of the presidium,
  • the election of the presidium,
  • the resolutions on the budget and membership fees,
  • passing resolutions on amendments to the statutes,
  • passing resolutions on applications,
  • the dissolution of the LSB.

General meeting

The general assembly meets annually between the state sports days. The same percentage of votes applies as for state sports days. The general assembly is responsible for:

  • the receipt of reports from the Presidium,
  • the voting out and by-election of members of the Presidium, the Complaints Commission and cash auditors,
  • the appointment of honorary members.

Bureau

The Presidium leads the Brandenburg State Sports Federation and fulfills its tasks within the framework and meaning of the statutes and the resolutions of the State Sports Days and general assemblies. In addition to President Wolfgang Neubert, the Presidium of the LSB Brandenburg currently has three members as Vice Presidents. Karl-Heinz Hegenbart is Vice President for Popular Sports and Sports Development. Wilfried Lausch is Vice President of Competitive Sports and Steffie Lamers is Vice President for Education.

financing

The LSB Brandenburg is financed primarily through membership fees and subsidies. The latter are largely passed on to the LSB members through funding programs. As part of the Brandenburg Golden Plan funding program , for example, 14 million euros were made available to the LSB for the renovation of sports facilities until 2013.

tasks

The task of the LSB is the promotion of sport and the coordination of the joint measures required for it, the representation of the common interests of its members vis-à-vis the federal, state and local authorities as well as in public:

  1. Promotion of popular, competitive and top-class sport,
  2. Promotion of sport for selected target groups (including in particular children and young people, the disabled and the elderly),
  3. Promotion of education and training in sport,
  4. Integration of youth work and youth social work in cooperation with the "Brandenburgische Sportjugend" (BSJ), in particular the promotion of youth care including the organization of recreational measures as well as the operation of sports and youth homes, holiday camps, youth guest houses, day-care centers and youth education centers,
  5. Care and maintenance of the sports facilities,
  6. Connection to sports medicine regardless of the sport,
  7. Consideration of the interests of the environment and nature conservation,
  8. The LSB acts in the conviction that doping is incompatible with the basic values ​​of sport.

Mission statement

The LSB is currently working with its members on the strategy paper Sportland Brandenburg 2030 - The strategy for strong clubs . With the paper, the Sportland Brandenburg wants to continue and consolidate the success of the strategy paper “Sportland 2020 - Developing Perspectives Together”, which was adopted in 2014. It is intended to serve as a strategic guide for the LSB and its member organizations in the future. Since the beginning of the year, the Landessportbund, in cooperation with the ESAB University of Applied Sciences for Sport and Management Potsdam, had taken up topics, ideas and suggestions from the member clubs and associations and developed a first version of the new strategy paper from them. The basis for this was the scientific evaluation of the previous strategy paper, the work of a special working group made up of associations and clubs, and the ideas gathered at three regional conferences. On August 31, 2019, the first draft of the new paper was concretized at a sports development conference.

Olympic base in Brandenburg

The Brandenburg Olympic Training Center (OSP) acts as a service and support facility for top athletes from various leading German associations and invests in youth and youth work in competitive sports. Competitive young sport is the focus of the conception. On the basis of a high-performance school system, the “Elite School of Sports” , talent is systematically promoted, which includes the numerous regional cadres at Cottbus, Frankfurt (Oder) and Potsdam. The sports schools of the State of Brandenburg enable athletes to have an optimal career of highly qualified athletic training as well as a correspondingly best possible school education with a degree.

European Sports Academy (ESAB)

The European Sport Academy Land Brandenburg (ESAB) implements its goal of promoting sport through association, school, professional and academic training, further education and training. The ESAB supports understanding, quality of life and personal development of all groups in our society and Europe.

Brandenburg Sports Youth Blossin

The youth education center Blossin is the youth education center of the Brandenburg Sports Youth. A variety of programs are offered in Blossin under the main theme "Meetings and relax close to nature" . B. in climbing, inline skating, surfing, and seminars on the topics of the Internet, adventure and adventure education.

The Brandenburgische Sportjugend is the independently active youth organization in the State Sports Association of Brandenburg. Its members are the children and young people organized in more than 2,500 sports clubs and their youth representatives. The Brandenburg Sports Youth represents the interests of children and young people up to the age of 27. The Brandenburgische Sportjugend is a non-profit organization and recognized as an independent organization for free youth welfare. She advocates the participation and co-determination of young people in sports clubs and associations and would like to contribute to their holistic development and supports the unity of youth sports and youth work. Through her work, she wants to promote voluntary work and ensure that as many children and young people as possible find their way to sports in the club. Member organizations and partners are to be supported through advice, guidance and support. Together with multipliers and institutions, youth-friendly offers are developed and implemented throughout the state of Brandenburg.

Projects and Campaigns

The work of the LSB concentrates on various areas for which there are various projects, campaigns and support measures. These areas include a. Competitive sports, popular sports, children and youth sports, sports for the elderly, girls and women sports, family sports, sports facilities as well as sports and the environment. The Brandenburgische Sportjugend (BSJ) is particularly committed to the participation and participation of young people in sports clubs and associations.

Honors

Officials and members of the LSB have already received numerous honors for their work in various areas. The LSB also awards honors itself. Volunteers who are active in sports in Brandenburg can be recognized via the LSB's honorary regulations. There are different levels of award: from the certificate of honor, through various badges of honor, to the plaque of honor and honorary membership. The LSB also awards an annual environmental prize. This should publicize club activities with special exemplary character and reward them financially.
