The LSB promotes sport to secure sport development in the state of Thuringia. This funding does not only refer to financial support, but also to the provision of a needs-based sports facility infrastructure. With his own financial resources he lays the basis for this funding according to the subsidiarity principle with a differentiated contribution structure for all population groups.

The focus is on the interests of the members. The sport-political and sport-technical as well as the youth and educational-political interest representation applies to sport in Thuringia. The basic principle of cooperation is the recognition of democratic rules. The LSB relies on dialogue, is committed to solidarity with one another and derives its actions and work from this. The LSB agrees on common goals for sport development in Thuringia, makes binding agreements for the implementation and provides services based on division of labor.

In the system of education and qualification of organized sport, the LSB relies on uniform quality standards as the basis for differentiated and qualified sports offers. He is involved in the sport-related professional training of young people as well as in the field of state-recognized youth and adult education.

The LSB advocates mutual respect, appreciation and fair play, responsible interaction with children and young people, participation and codetermination regardless of age, gender, origin and religion, and sport that is free of manipulation and doping. The LSB is expressly against violence and extremism.

The LSB advocates the protection and preservation of nature and the environment, among other things in the context of environmentally friendly planning, renovation and new construction of sports facilities and ensures that energy, water and other raw materials are saved in their operation.
