The state sports association Baden-Württemberg e. V. (LSV) is the umbrella organization for sports self-administration in Baden-Württemberg . It is based in the Stuttgart district of Bad Cannstatt and is a member of the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB). It was founded in 1973 in Böblingen. With 3.7 million members and a total of 11,356 associations (as of 2017), it is the largest citizens' movement in Baden-Württemberg.

Its main tasks are to look after its member organizations and to represent the common interests of its members internally and externally. The organs of the LSV are the general assembly, the executive presidium and the presidium.

At the head of the organization is President Elvira Menzer-Haasis with her three Vice Presidents. Together with the chief executive officer of the LSV, they form the executive committee. The entire board is the LSV Presidium, which includes the President, the three Vice Presidents, nine other members, the women's representative, the chairman of the Baden-Württemberg Sports Youth , the chairman of the Presidential Committee for Competitive Sports and the LSV General Manager.

history

In 2017 it was decided within the framework of the basic agreement "Olympic support points Baden-Württemberg" that the sponsorship via the Baden-Württemberg Olympic support points ( OSP Freiburg-Black Forest , OSP Rhein-Neckar and OSP Stuttgart and OSP Tauberbischofsheim ) from January 2018 under the legal sponsorship of the State Sports Association (LSV ) Baden-Württemberg is merged. Tauberbischofsheim also lost its status as an Olympic base and will be run as a federal base from 2018 , also under the sponsorship of the LSV.

Member organizations

The members result from the organizational structure of sport in Baden-Württemberg. This is divided into the three member sports federations on the one hand and the 85 specialist sports associations on the other. It also includes 8 sports associations with special tasks and associations for science and education.

Sports associations

85 professional associations are members of the Baden-Württemberg State Sports Association. There are different organizational forms of the sports associations in Baden-Württemberg. Some of the associations are organized at state level, which means that there is a Baden-Württemberg professional association for each sport. In other sports there are either all of Baden and all of Württemberg professional associations or North Baden, South Baden and Württemberg professional associations. This means that a sport in Baden-Württemberg can have a maximum of three professional associations.

Since January 24, 2005, the LSV has had its headquarters in the SpOrt Stuttgart in Stuttgart- Bad Cannstatt . Initiative "Top Sports State Baden-Württemberg"

In order to secure the future of competitive sport in the state, the LSV has launched the initiative "Top Sports State Baden-Württemberg". The aim is not only to introduce young talents to the top German and international leaders in partnership, but also to enable them to have a long and successful career in top-class sport. The foundation “Social Aid for Top Athletes in Baden-Württemberg” also pursues the purpose of providing top athletes in Baden-Württemberg with aid for appropriate school and professional training and to provide support in social emergencies.
