politics

Two days after the resignation of CDU politician Roland Wöller , Brunhild Kurth was appointed Saxon Minister of Education on March 22, 2012 and sworn in on April 3. Shortly before, Prime Minister Stanislaw Tillich had withdrawn responsibility for the field of sport, popular sports and associations from the Ministry and transferred it to the Saxon State Ministry of the Interior . She initially belonged to the Tillich II cabinet as a non-party politician until she joined the CDU Saxony in autumn 2013 . It was noteworthy that they renamed middle schools to high schools. During her tenure, she had to struggle in particular with the effects of the shortage of teachers and the resulting loss of lessons at Saxon schools, for which she was under strong criticism. On September 29, 2017 - a few days after the federal election - she announced her resignation for "private reasons". She wants to spend more time with her family and move to Stuttgart .
