Hans Georg von Carlowitz (born December 11, 1772 in Großhartmannsdorf , † March 18, 1840 in Dresden ) was a Saxon minister and envoy to the Bundestag.

origin

His parents were Hans Karl August von Carlowitz (born June 3, 1727; † July 26, 1793) and his first wife, Johanne Agnes Frederike von der Schulenburg (born January 11, 1753; † September 18, 1785). His father was majorate in Großhartmannsdorf, Liebstadt with Wingendorf, Herbergen, Göppersdorf, Döbra and Berthelsdorf, on Oberschöna and Oberreichenbach and, since 1784, Kirchbach and Steina. General Carl Adolf von Carlowitz (1771–1837) was his brother.

biography

Carlowitz was 1794 Supreme Court Assessor in Leipzig , but moved in 1795 as Amtshauptmann to his estate Oberschöna . In 1805 he joined the Secret Finance College in Dresden , was appointed envoy to the Bundestag in 1821 and a member of the Secret Council College in 1827 . In 1828 he chaired the negotiations in Kassel about the establishment of the Central German Trade Association . For his services, he was made an honorary citizen of the Free City of Frankfurt am Main on December 16, 1828 .

After the enactment of the Constitutional Law , in the drafting of which he had played an outstanding role, he joined the ministry in 1831 as minister without portfolio , in which he took over the portfolio of the interior in 1834 and that of culture and public education in 1836. In both positions he confirmed his business acumen and his humane, liberal tendencies inclined to disposition.

Hans Georg von Carlowitz was the father of Albert von Carlowitz .
