Max Müller (politician, 1874)

Max Wilhelm Müller (born May 25, 1874 in Lichtenstein-Callnberg , † January 13, 1933 in Dresden ) was a German politician.

Life

After attending primary school and training as a typesetter , he worked as an editor for the social democratic newspaper “ Volksstimme ” in Chemnitz from January 1906 to January 1924 . In 1908 he became chairman of the SPD in Chemnitz. From 1908 to 1911 Müller was a member of the local SPD district executive committee, and finally he served as a member of the central party committee from 1920 to 1922. During the November Revolution , Müller was chairman of the Chemnitz Workers 'and Soldiers' Council, together with Fritz Heckert and Max Stein. In 1919 Müller was elected a member of the Saxon state parliament for the SPD, he held this mandate until 1929. From 1922 to 1924 he was parliamentary group leader of the SPD state parliament group. Parallel to his parliamentary career in Saxony, Müller ran for the Reichstag for the constituency of Chemnitz-Zwickau in 1920 . From January 1924 to January 1927 Müller was Saxony's interior minister .

During the Saxon conflict between 1924 and 1926 he supported the government of Max Heldt and in 1926 joined the Old Social Democratic Party of Germany (ASPD). From 1926 to 1930, Müller was a partner in the Volksstaatdruckerei. From 1930 until his death he was senior government councilor in the former Dresden district administration .
