Hermann von Nostitz-Wallwitz (born March 30, 1826 in Oschatz , † January 10, 1906 in Dresden ) was a German politician.

Life

The son of Gustav von Nostitz Wallwitz attended the Prince's School St. Afra in Meissen and graduated in rights at the University of Leipzig . In 1851 he entered the Saxon civil service as a state official in Upper Lusatia , was official governor in Löbau and Bautzen in 1857 and district director in Bautzen in 1862. From 1857 to 1866 he was a member of the Second Chamber of the Landtag as a member of the Upper Lusatian manor owners . On October 1, 1866, he became Minister of the Interior of Saxony, which he remained until 1891.

From 1869 to 1871 and from 1882 to 1895 he was Minister of the Royal House, was a member of the Reichstag from 1874 to 1876 , was a member of the Federal Council from 1876 and was also Saxon Minister for Foreign Affairs from 1876 to 1882 . Although he had retired on February 1, 1891, he was appointed a member of the first chamber of the Saxon state parliament, of which he was a member until 1904. As provost of the Meissen cathedral chapter , he was an honorary member of the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts . On May 31, 1882 he was granted honorary citizenship of the city of Dresden for his services to the development of the community and especially to the revisions of the general city ordinance carried out in 1873 in the sense of the independence of the municipal administrations .

Hermann von Nostitz-Wallwitz was married to Ida von Arnim from the Kriebstein family, the widow of Leo von Nostitz and Jänckendorf. He died in Dresden in 1906 and was buried in Sohland on the Spree .

In Dresden- Löbtau , today's Bonhoefferplatz was known as Nostitz-Wallwitz-Platz until the 1950s , as well as Nostizstraße (today Clara-Viebig-Straße ) and westwards running Wallwitzstraße (today Clara-Zetkin-Straße ). , named after him.
