Otto Kühn

Otto Kühn (born April 30, 1871 in Rochlitz ; † after 1934) was a Saxon politician ( SPD , ASPD ).

Otto Kühn attended elementary school and the community school in Rochlitz and then worked as a cigar worker. From 1892 to 1894 he did his military service with the 139 Infantry Regiment in Döbeln . From 1900 to 1909 he was an accountant at the consumer association Dresden-Pieschen and from 1909 to 1912 accountant at the publishing house of the Dresdner Volkszeitung .

He joined the SPD in 1889 and was District Party Secretary for East Saxony from March 1912 to May 1920, based in Dresden. At least 1914 to 1917 he was a member of the central SPD party committee and in 1919 the central SPD organizing commission. From 1907 to 1922 Kühn was a city councilor in Dresden and one of the most active representatives of his party there. There he was a member of the board of directors and the legal committee. After 1918 he was a member of the main committee of the German Association of Cities and the Board of Directors of the Lingner Foundation . He was a board member of the German Hygiene Museum .

From 1919 to 1926 he was a member of the Saxon People's Chamber and the Saxon State Parliament for three electoral terms . From 1919 to 1920 he was deputy secretary of the People's Chamber.

From May 1920 to December 1920 he was Saxon Minister of the Interior . From 1922 to 1924 he was governor in Großenhain (Saxony) and from 1924 to 1931 police chief in Dresden. On October 1, 1931, Kühn retired at his own request for health reasons.

When the Saxon SPD split, he was one of the supporters of Prime Minister Max Heldt , was expelled from the SPD and joined the ASPD. In 1928 he was a member of the central ASP program commission.
