Richard Freiherr von Schlieben (born July 23, 1848 in Niederfriedersdorf ; † February 7, 1908 in Niedertaubenheim ) was a German administrative lawyer in Saxony.

Life

Schlieben was born on a manor in Upper Lusatia . After graduating from high school , he enrolled on April 25, 1868 at the University of Leipzig for law . On May 5, 1868 he became a fox in the Corps Lusatia Leipzig . For participating in a duel , he was sentenced to “two days in second degree prison”. Lusatia reciprocated him on December 14, 1868. As a left-hander, he fought eight lengths , including on February 25, 1869 in a PP suite against the Corps Saxonia Leipzig . Inactive since June 15, 1870 , he was reactivated in the personal emergency during the Franco-German War .

After the legal exams he entered the internal administration of the Kingdom of Saxony . He was in different police departments involved and government agencies and was Councilor . In addition to the excellent conduct of his official business, Schlieben's special services to Zittau lie in the promotion of transport , science and social justice . He initiated the flow regulation of the Mandau , which prevented the regular flooding on the southern outskirts of Zittau and made this watercourse usable for the settling textile industry .

As the Saxon Minister for Culture and Education, he pursued liberal ideas in the school system. He was a pioneer of co-education .

At the age of 58 he died on his estate in Niedertaubenheim . King Friedrich August III came to the burial in the Taubenheim cemetery . (Saxony) . Three Lusatians charged with the flag .
