Admission to the Corps (Allers)

Reception ( Latin: recipere , to take in) is the solemn admission of a fox as a fully authorized and fully responsible member of a corps .

history

The term is used exclusively for inclusion "in the inner corps". The inner circle, the corps, was created in the Königsberg Corpsland teams . This does not apply to the compatriots , "societies" and "connections" in the old Reich and in the German Confederation , which have gradually been transformed into corps or renamed themselves since 1810. The outer circles were originally just fluctuating masses from which the corps convente selected suitable applicants (“honorable lads”) who “reported to the reception”. Only gradually did the Renoncenstand take on a fixed form, usually determined by its own statutes, which made it the outer circle of the corps. Students with a “small matriculation” (e.g. the pharmacists in Bavaria until the 1870s; in Freiburg i. Brsg. Also the surgeons) could not be accepted and remained Renoncen or Renoncen Philistines. Only the corps boys, the full members, who in turn elected the senior citizens and other representatives from among their ranks, belonged to the narrow corps. The rest were part of the country team, but not the corps. They were therefore no longer called foxes, but renoncenes, because they waived equality for the time being. These country teams were called after the conversion Corpslandmannschaften, d. H. Country teams with a smaller circle, the corps. Before 1870 it was also used in individual connections for acceptance into the outer circle of the Renoncen. For Heinrich Georges , receptio is “especially the secret reception”. However, this interpretation is not found in the published Corps Constitutions and is misleading. On the other hand, the term and custom of the "ceremonial reception" has been known since the beginning of the 19th century, probably a reminiscence of customs in lodge associations . Receptions were published in the Kösener reports as early as 1852.

In addition to aptitude, the receptionist must have passed the fox test and at least one valid measure . Some corps require an additional reception party. The fox test can take two days. In the past, in some places up to the recent past, the fox (the Renonce) had to be reported to the Senior Citizens' Convention as a corps recipient three days before the reception . If no objection was raised, the CR was "reciprocated into the narrow corps". The Königsberg Balte Schindelmeiser , the most important chronicler of the Königsberg Senior Citizens' Convention, refers to an important, albeit long-forgotten aspect of the scale request :

“The obligation to report the corps recipient (CR) to the SC before being elected to the narrow corps and to observe a waiting time can be seen as a preliminary stage for the introduction of the scaling request. Even when the scaling request was abolished, this provision was retained. § 28 of the SC-Komment from 1896 reads: 'Renoncen, which are to be reciprocated into the corps, must be reported to the SC ... at least three days before the reception.' "

- Siegfried Schindelmeiser

For the fox the reception is the actual beginning of his corps student life. It is a significant event for the Corps because it allows the ongoing rejuvenation. The reception decision must be made unanimously by the Corpsconvent (CC). The ceremony is solemn but simple. There are only minor differences between the individual corps. Christian Wilhelm Allers captured them with timeless validity. The sash, cerevis and tails of the charged men have been replaced by the black suit. The senior reads out the most important paragraphs of the Constitution . The corps brother undertakes to shake hands and word of honor to adhere to them and to serve the corps loyally . Then the fox ribbon is exchanged for the corps colors. Color strophe , champagne.

Embroidered reception blankets in the colors of the Corps were popular gifts from the wives of old men.

Reception of a corps

The term reception is also used for the admission of corps to a senior citizens' convent. If a fraternity wants to become a corps, it has to renounce to a SC. Alamannia Basel retired from SC zu Freiburg in 1870. The Rostock Corps Borussia, Saxonia and later Hansea renounced the Corps Holsatia in 1882 .
