Schlieben (noble family)
Schlieben is the name of an old German noble family from the Untergau Zlivin (now Amt Schlieben ). The name changed between Sleben , Zlewin , Zliw , Zlivn , Zlywine , Sliwen , Slieben , Schleyben , Slyben , Zlowin and Schlieben .

Oldest representatives
The family was derived from Castle Schlieben , which at that time belonged to Niederlausitz . The oldest known member of the family today was Otto de Sleben , who was mentioned in 1144 on the crusade to the Holy Land.

Liebschützer Line
The oldest line of trunks known today begins with Gumprecht von Schlieben on Dobnoslo (called near Senftenberg , 1269, † 1279), Burgvogt on Liebschütz an der Mulde in the Ascanian Duchy of Saxony . His descendants formed the Liebschütz line of the sex.
Mühlberg line
A Hans von Schlieben auf Mühlberg and Prettin , captain in Jüterbog († 1458) was the oldest known representative of the Mühlberg line today . Baruth and Stülpe (then also the Duchy of Saxony) also belonged to the family in the 15th century. Two Balthasare von Schlieben were electoral councilors in neighboring Brandenburg in the 15th century.
Prussian Line
Georg von Schlieben from the Liebschützer or Mühlberger Line fought for the Teutonic Order in Prussia since 1454 and founded the Prussian line there with the castles of Nordenburg and Gerdauen .
Saxon Line
His eldest son Georg († 1521) founded the Saxon line , whose son Eustachius († 1568) was the most important councilor of the Brandenburg Elector Joachim II and confidante of Luther.

House Birkenfeld: Elevation to the imperial count status with "high and well-born" and coats of arms association with that of Count Truchseß von Wetzhausen on January 11, 1660 in Vienna for the royal Polish treasurer and colonel of the bodyguard Johann Dietrich von Schlieben (1638–1695), hereditary captain to Birkenfeld , Gerdauen , Nordenburg and others in East Prussia . The Brandenburg recognition followed on December 20, 1662. The line died out in 1816 with Friedrich Wilhelm von Schlieben .

House Sanditten: Elevation to the Prussian count status on August 9, 1718 in Berlin for the royal Prussian Landjägermeister Georg Adam von Schlieben (1649–1720), landlord on Sanditten , hereditary captain of Gerdauen, Nordenburg and Klingbeck in the district of Heiligenbeil .
House Adamshaide: Elevation to the Prussian count status on September 19, 1786 in Berlin with a diploma of January 10, 1787 for the royal Prussian major of the infantry Gottlieb von Schlieben , landlord on Kurkenfeld and hereditary captain of Gerdauen and Nordenburg.
House Nieder-Friedersdorf: Entry in the royal Saxon nobility book on July 30, 1904 for the royal Saxon minister of state and culture Richard von Schlieben (1848–1908), landlord of Nieder-Taubenheim on the Spree , and for his brother, the royal Saxon Colonel Egon von Schlieben , Commander of Grenadier Regiment No. 101 .
