Gertrud von Schlieben

Gertrud Emily von Schlieben , married. Borngräber (born January 20, 1873 in Dresden ; † July 27, 1939 there ) was a German writer who wrote under the pseudonym Gerda von Robertus .

Gertrud von Schlieben was born in Dresden as the daughter of the officer Georg von Schlieben (1843–1906). She spent her childhood here and moved to Berlin at the age of ten , where she lived until 1893. She attended secondary schools for girls in both places . Due to her father's diplomatic activity as the Saxon representative at the Federal Council, she was also introduced to the Berlin court society and got to know numerous scientists, artists and nobles of her time personally. She herself turned to portraiture.

The family returned to Dresden in 1893, where they withdrew from social life over time. After his father's death in 1906, von Schlieben devoted himself to his first literary work. Her first volume of poetry was published in 1908.

In 1911 she married the writer Dr. Otto Borngräber . The marriage was divorced in 1913. Gertrud von Schlieben then took on her maiden name again. Between 1913 and 1914, Rudi Stephan set six of her poems to music under the title Ich will dir singen ein Hohelied .

Gertrud von Schlieben died in Dresden in 1939 and was buried in the Johannisfriedhof .
