Johann Friedrich von Schlieben

Johann Friedrich von Schlieben (* 1630 on Gerdauen ; † November 19, 1696 ) was a major general in Brandenburg and governor of Tilsit .

Life

origin

His parents were the heir of Gerdauen Hans Georg von Schlieben (* April 21, 1603; † 1640) and his wife Marie Elisabeth, née von Flanß († 1650) from the residential village.

Military career

On February 29, 1676, Schlieben became a colonel from Kurbrandenburg and head of the Hohendorf regiment on horseback. On March 8, 1677, the elector appointed him governor of Tilsit. He fought during the invasion of Sweden in the siege of Stettin and Stralsund and the transition to Rügen . On April 20, 1690 he was appointed major general and chamberlain . He died on November 19, 1696.

He was married on November 15, 1665 with Juliane von Dönhoff (* December 16, 1637; † 1694), daughter of Friedrich Gerhard von Dönhoff (1600–1650) and Anna Maria von Heyking (1612–1671). After her death he married Katharina von Dönhoff (born February 3, 1669 - December 21, 1752), daughter of Count Gerhard von Dönhoff (1632–1685), Polish and Swedish chamberlain , Polish banner bearer, Lithuanian cupbearer and Truchseß , as well as Starost to Telsen and Anna Beate von Goldstein (1645–1675). Both marriages produced a son and a daughter.
