Detlev Schwennicke

Detlev Schwennicke (born January 31, 1930 in Guben ; † December 24, 2012 in Berlin ) was a Protestant clergyman and editor of the European Family Tables .

Life

Schwennicke spent his childhood and youth in Brandenburg and East Prussia . He completed his theology studies in Mainz , Göttingen and Bonn . He passed through his vicariate in his native Brandenburg.

In 1958 he came to the Palatinate Church , where he held a pastor's position in Grünstadt for 12 years. In 1970 he joined the Rhenish Church and was pastor in Dusseldorf and Wetzlar , before 1992 retired . Professor Michael Welker is considered to be his most prominent student.

In 1978 Schwennicke gave Volume V of the “European Family Tables” from the estate of Frank Baron Freytag von Loringhoven (1910–1977). Family tables on the history of European states ”. Then the work was put on a new footing by Him as the third supervisor. It was now called: “European family tables. Family tables on the history of the European states. Founded by Wilhelm Karl Prinz zu Isenburg , continued by Frank Baron Freytag von Loringhoven. New episode. Edited by Detlev Schwennicke. “The series was published under his aegis from 1980 to 2011, Volume XXIX was published posthumously in 2013.

Since 2008 he lived with his wife in Berlin. The couple has four children and eight grandchildren. He is buried in the Grunewald cemetery .
