Live and act

Göpfert was the son of the brewery owner Wilhelm Göpfert. After attending primary school and training at a teacher training college in Plauen from 1916 to 1923, Göpfert worked as a primary school teacher in Glauchau .

In 1923 Göpfert joined the NSDAP for the first time, which he rejoined after being re-established in 1925. In the party he successively took over tasks as the local group leader of Syrau and Glauchau and as an imperial speaker . In 1930 he was appointed district chairman of the National Socialist Teachers' Association (NSLB) in Saxony. In the Nazi press he also acted as the editor of Political Education , the building blocks for German education and as co-editor of Dürr's fatherland library .

After the National Socialists came to power in 1933, Göpfert became an alderman of the State Commissioner for Saxony before he was accepted as a ministerial advisor in the Saxon Ministry of National Education . An important step in his career was the commitment of the German professors to Adolf Hitler in November 1933, which he published, and the organization of the rally in Leipzig on November 11, 1933. On March 11, 1935, Prime Minister Martin Mutschmann appointed him head of the ministry without ever having the title of "Minister".

In addition, Göpfert headed the department for educators in the district of Saxony as district manager. He was also a member of the State Synod of Saxony and the State Church Education Office. In 1933 he sat in the Saxon state parliament , and from November 1933 until the end of the Nazi regime in spring 1945 he was also a member of the National Socialist Reichstag for constituency 28 (Dresden-Bautzen) . In addition, Göpfert was a member of the National Socialist Aviation Corps (NSFK) with the rank of Oberführer .

After 1945 Göpfert lived in West Germany. The Monument to German Labor (Leipzig 1935) published by Göpfert was placed on the list of literature to be segregated in the Soviet occupation zone .
