Söchtenau is a municipality in the Upper Bavarian district of Rosenheim with the two parishes Schwabering and Söchtenau. The community borders the Simssee in the south and extends to Vogtareuth .
geography
There are several lakes in the municipality, the Simssee , the Siferlinger See , a small moor lake on the large Stucksdorfer Moor and a small part of the Rinssee bathing lake on the municipal boundary .

history
The first documentary mention was in the year 924. Söchtenau belonged to the Rentamt Burghausen and the district court district Kling and became an independent political municipality in the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria in 1818.
Population development
Between 1988 and 2018 the municipality grew from 2,116 to 2,651 by 535 inhabitants or by 25.3%.

Two kilometers northwest of Söchtenau is the Vogtareuth airfield , a special landing pad for all types of aircraft up to 2000 kg maximum take-off weight (MTOW) and helicopters up to 5700 kg.
