About this picture
Western entrance to the town

Soyen is a municipality in the Upper Bavarian district of Rosenheim , five kilometers north-north-west of Wasserburg am Inn . Remains of the old Hohenburg and Königswart castles still point to the historical past of the place.

Geographical location

The last ice age and with it the Inn glacier formed a hilly landscape and also formed several lakes. For example the Altensee and the Soyensee . Both lakes are privately owned. While the Soyensee, on the other hand, is still suitable as a bathing lake after a fee has to be paid, the Altensee is now no longer accessible to the public.
