Franz Xaver Huber (Carmelite)

Franz Xaver Huber (born July 23, 1819 in Kirchreit , † October 4, 1888 in Hoboken , New Jersey ) was a Roman Catholic priest and Carmelite . Together with his brother Cyrill Knoll , he brought his order to the United States of America.

Life

Franz Xaver Huber (Taufnahme Joseph) entered the Carmelite Monastery of Straubing on February 24, 1844 as a Lain brother candidate and made his profession on September 16, 1845 . Against church law provisions he was in on 16 July 1847 Regensburg the priesthood . The resulting censorship had to be officially lifted.

From October 1857 to April 1861 he was involved in the attempt to found a monastery in Hungary . From October 1861 to February 1863 he was a pastor at the pilgrimage church in Sossau .

Emigrated to America with Father Cyrill Knoll in May 1864. The tour company landed in New York on May 22nd. After a short stay and long stay in Louisville , Kentucky, the two Carmelites went to Kansas and accepted a parish in Leavenworth . This began with the Carmel foundations, which formed the basis for the later order province of the Purest Heart of Mary .

Franz Xaver Huber died in Hoboken on October 4, 1888.
