Pest (Hungarian pronunciation [ pɛʃt ]; formerly also written as Pesth ) was, along with Buda, one of the two cities that made Hungary's capital Budapest in 1873 . Before that, it was the seat of the administrative administration of the Kingdom of Hungary from 1723 .
Pest is located on the eastern, flat side on the banks of the Danube and occupies two thirds of the urban area of Budapest.
