Eggstätt from the south

Eggstätt is a municipality in the Upper Bavarian district of Rosenheim , which is northwest of the Chiemsee on the Hartsee . In the municipal area of ​​the holiday resort there are numerous lakes that, together with other lakes in the area, form the Eggstätter Seenplatte , a nature reserve also known as Eggstätt-Hemhofer Seenplatte . The lake district was created in the last ice age by the former Chiemsee and Inn glaciers . The town of the same name is the main town.

The community is located in the middle of the Chiemgau and is surrounded by numerous lakes, including the Chiemsee . The village is located around 8 km east of Bad Endorf , 10 km north of Prien am Chiemsee , 24 km northeast of Rosenheim , 24 km southeast of Wasserburg am Inn , 20 km southwest of Trostberg and 25 km northwest of Traunstein . The nearest train station is in Bad Endorf. Eggstätt is connected to the regional traffic of Upper Bavaria with the bus route 9511 . It connects Eggstätt with Bad Endorf, Rimsting and Prien am Chiemsee.

history

The place probably originated in pre-Bavarian times. The first documentary mention was around 925 as "Echistat". Eggstätt was the seat of an office for a long time and became an independent political municipality in the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria in 1818. In 1862 it was assigned to the newly formed Traunstein District Office. Since January 1, 1900, the community has belonged to the Rosenheim district office , today's Rosenheim district. In 1978 the Eggstätt community became a member of the Breitbrunn am Chiemsee administrative community , which it left in 1986.

Between 1988 and 2018, the municipality grew from 2,035 to 2,979 by 944 inhabitants or 46.4%.

Old coat of arms

Eggstätt had no municipal coat of arms until 1968. In 1969 the municipality applied for a municipal coat of arms in the form of a green shield with four transverse silver waves.

The Altenmarker Johannes Freutsmiedl discovered the noble coat of arms of the first noble family of Eggstätter in the monastery Baumburg near Altenmarkt ad Alz in the 1980s , so that shortly afterwards this was applied for and also approved as a new coat of arms.

The official description reads: Into each other two points (rafters) swept towards the front upper corner, in the rear upper corner a golden star. With large ornamentation: two horns and scrollwork. Colors: The actual field color is black (for today's coat of arms in blue), rafters silver and star gold.
