Halfing is a municipality in the Upper Bavarian district of Rosenheim and the seat of the Halfing administrative community .

Halfing is located in the Chiemgau and in the planning region of Southeast Upper Bavaria.
The village is located around 17 km northeast of Rosenheim , 14 km south of Wasserburg am Inn , 5 km northwest of Bad Endorf , 13 km northwest of Prien am Chiemsee and 35 km from Traunstein .

history
Until the 19th century
Halfing was first mentioned in a document in 928. The place belonged from 1732 to 1803 as a closed Hofmark (Halfing with Forchtenegg) to the Seeon Monastery , which had acquired it from the Lords of Fossa. In 1803 the Halfing Court of Justice was repealed. In the same year Halfing came to the Trostberg district court .
In 1818, Halfing became an independent political municipality as part of the administrative reforms in Bavaria . In 1853 this came to the district court of Prien and with this then in 1862 to the newly formed district office of Rosenheim.
Population development
Between 1988 and 2018 the municipality grew from 2,134 to 2,835 inhabitants or by 32.9%.

- Road: The federal motorway 8 (junction Bernau am Chiemsee ) is 18 km further south.
- Bus traffic: There are bus connections to Wasserburg , Bad Endorf and Prien am Chiemsee or to Rosenheim , Prutting and Amerang .
- Rail: In Halfing there is a small station of the Chiemgauer local railway . The train runs on weekends and on special occasions from Bad Endorf via Halfing to Obing am See. The nearest train station with scheduled traffic is in Bad Endorf .
- Aviation: Three kilometers south of the town center is the Bad Endorf airfield , a special airfield for aircraft up to 2000 kg maximum take-off weight (MTOW).
