When Sonderlandeplatz ( English Special Airfield ) is, in Germany one airfield , on the basis of a management approval motor-driven aircraft are allowed to run in general and land.

In contrast to glider airfields , they usually have an ICAO code and allow further powered flight in addition to aircraft towing , parachute transport and the operation of air sports equipment . Special airfields are often used by air sports clubs.

In contrast to a commercial airfield, only the operator and, on request, third parties may take off and land on the special airfield. There is no obligation to operate, so opening times are not mandatory.

In contrast to a special airport , only a limited building protection area according to § 17 LuftVG is required for a special airfield .
