Building protection area

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The building protection area (BSB) according to the LuftVG is used to monitor obstacles for airfields . It does not mean that something is not allowed to be built, just that in addition to a building permit, an aviation permit is required.

Due to a statement by the German Air Traffic Control (DFS) in accordance with § 31 LuftVG decides aviation authority of the country if an obstacle must be built in Bauschutzbereich.

There are two different BODs:

  • The large building protection area LuftVG § 12 as well
  • The small building protection area LuftVG § 17.

If IFR traffic takes place at an airfield , the space should hold the large BSB according to LuftVG § 12. If it is not possible due to regional conditions to provide a BSB according to LuftVG § 12 for a place with IFR traffic, a BSB § 17 and also a so-called obstacle information area, which is defined by the DFS, must be set up.

Based on the notification of the obstacles by the BSB, the DFS can calculate and publish corresponding OCAs , OCHs .
