Obstacle Clearance Altitude

Under Obstacle Clearance Altitude (OCA) is understood in the aviation height above MSL , in the case of a instrument approach nor freedom of obstacles exist. It is particularly important for flight under instrument flight conditions . Under Off-Route Obstacle Clearance Altitude (OROCA) refers heights for rectangular sections in route maps (Enroute Charts). If this minimum height is observed, a vertical distance to obstacles of at least 1000 ft is guaranteed, in mountainous terrain of 2000 ft.
