Aviation Authority
An aviation authority is in many countries a government authority that deals with the organization of the local aviation busy. Aviation authorities, for example, assign licenses for airlines and aircraft registration numbers , approve airfields, monitor the airspace , train aviation personnel such as pilots and air traffic controllers , and draw up safety and economic regulations .

- The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) is a European aviation safety authority.
Historical
- Joint Aviation Authorities (JAA) was the predecessor of the above-mentioned EASA as an association of aviation authorities from 34 European nations.
