Großkarolinenfeld is a municipality and a village in the district of Rosenheim with 7,335 inhabitants (December 31, 2016) and belongs to the administrative district of Upper Bavaria in the Free State of Bavaria in the Federal Republic of Germany . Larger districts are Tattenhausen, Jarezöd ( Dred ), Hilperting and Thann.

Großkarolinenfeld is located six kilometers north of Rosenheim , eight kilometers from Bad Aibling , 27 km each from Wasserburg am Inn and Ebersberg and 57 km from the state capital Munich . It is 12 km to the Bad Aibling and Rosenheim-Ost junction of the federal motorway 8 .

history
19th and 20th centuries
In 1802 the Bavarian Elector Max IV. Josef and his wife Karoline issued an appeal, according to which subjects from the Palatinate could settle on the Rosenheimer and on the Neuburger Moos . They were offered land, military exemption, tax exemption, twelve horses and a church loan. Since 1802 the first - mostly Protestant - settlers from the Palatinate on the right and left of the Rhine (the area between Heidelberg and Kaiserslautern ) came to Großkarolinenfeld.
Raiffeisenbank Großkarolinenfeld was founded in 1895, and Raiffeisenbank Tattenhausen in 1922 , which merged into Raiffeisenbank Tattenhausen-Großkarolinenfeld eG in 1938 .
Großkarolinenfeld belonged to the Bad Aibling district until its dissolution in 1972 , after which it was added to the Rosenheim district.
After the Romanian revolution of 1989 , numerous evangelical countrymen settled here.
Incorporations
On May 1, 1978, the previously independent community of Tattenhausen and parts of the dissolved community of Westerndorf St. Peter were incorporated. The hamlet of Ried, which originally belonged to the municipality of Ellmosen , which was incorporated into Bad Aibling in 1973 , was reclassified from Bad Aibling to Großkarolinenfeld in 1978.
Population development
Between 1988 and 2018, the community grew from 5474 to 7344 by 1870 inhabitants or 34.2%.
Public transport
- Rail traffic: Großkarolinenfeld has a stop on the Munich – Rosenheim railway line , which is served by the Meridian at least every hour .
- Bus traffic: Großkarolinenfeld is connected to the regional traffic of Upper Bavaria by two bus routes . Lines 44 and 9495 have connections to Rosenheim , Kolbermoor , Tattenhausen , Ostermünchen and Bad Aibling .
Religions
The Protestant rectory was built as early as 1804 . In 1822 the Karolinenkirche was built as the first Protestant church in Upper Bavaria. The Catholic parish church Heilig Blut was built in 1851 and has existed in its current form since 1959.
The Catholic parish church Heilig Kreuz in the district of Tattenhausen was consecrated in 1196. A church in Tattenhausen was mentioned as early as 804 in a dispute over property before the Carolingian court in Bad Aibling .

In the community area there is the Catholic parish kindergarten "Balu" with three groups, the community kindergarten Pusteblume with three groups, the community nursery school Pusteblume with two groups and one integration group and the kindergarten Spatzennest in Tattenhausen with two groups.
The Max-Joseph-Schule offers the M-train as a primary and secondary school .
economy
One of the largest and oldest employers in the community is the local Raiffeisenbank Tattenhausen-Großkarolinenfeld eG, which has branches in the districts of Großkarolinenfeld and Tattenhausen; 18 employees work there. In 2014 the bank had total assets of around 80 million. The bank was founded in 1895, and the first member of the board was the Protestant pastor Johann Georg Hüfner.

The painter and architect Franz Holper lived in Großkarolinenfeld from 1924 until his death in 1935.

Kleinkarolinenfeld is not a district of Großkarolinenfeld, but part of the municipality of Aying in the district of Munich.
