The Landesjugendchor Niedersachsen (LJC Niedersachsen) is a choir made up of teenagers and young adults from Lower Saxony . The country supports talented young singers. Until 2009 the ensemble was part of the State Music Council (LMR) of Lower Saxony; from there the choir founded in 1980 was organized. In 2009, the LMR handed over sponsorship to the newly opened Lower Saxony State Music Academy . The patron is the Prime Minister of Lower Saxony Stephan Weil .
The project choir is constituted annually to perform one or two independent projects in several concerts. New interested parties are integrated after an entrance examination with auditions , which usually takes place at the end of the previous year.
The young people between the ages of 16 and 26 can expand and deepen their singing and choral experience in the LJC under the guidance of well-known choir leaders and a professionally qualified team of mostly four voice instructors . The voices of the singers are promoted individually in individual lessons; In addition, vocal group work and choral vocal training aim to create a sound body that is as homogeneous as possible.
The State Youth Choir gives its members a variety of insights into choral music by introducing them to challenging works from different eras. The spectrum of the choir ranges from madrigals to contemporary compositions. The experiences with German and foreign guest conductors familiarize the young people with different schools and styles of choral work.
Working method
The state youth choir meets several times a year at various locations in and around Lower Saxony for work phases lasting several days. The programs developed there will be presented in several concerts directly after the main work phase and mostly on other concert weekends inside and outside of Lower Saxony.
The Lower Saxony State Music Academy in Wolfenbüttel has been a regular rehearsal location since 2009 . The Lower Saxony State Youth Choir gave a concert there before the official opening.
