The Landesjugendchor Nordrhein-Westfalen ( own spelling LandesJugendChor Nordrhein-Westfalen in ChorVerband NRW eV ) is a choir made up of teenagers and young adults from North Rhine-Westphalia and serves to promote the gifted. The state youth choir consists of around 60 singers aged 15 to 29. The choir is supported by the North Rhine-Westphalia Choir Association and the State Music Council of North Rhine-Westphalia .

The project choir meets around eight weekends a year for rehearsals and concerts. He performs 10 to 15 concerts a year and takes a concert tour every year.

2010s

Choirmaster

The choir was founded in 1979 and initially directed by Fritz ter Wey . The conductor couple Christiane Zywietz-Godland and Hermann Godland headed the choir from 1989 to 2019. Erik Sohn and Robert Göstl have been the choirmasters together since 2019 .

restructuring

In 2019, the NRW Choir Association and the NRW State Music Council decided to reissue the choir with a changed age structure, artistic orientation and direction. The previous choir continues under the name of the Young Choir North Rhine-Westphalia.
