The State Youth Choir Baden-Württemberg is a funding measure of the State of Baden-Württemberg in the sponsorship of the State Music Council . It was founded in 1979 to give young, particularly talented singers between the ages of 15 and 25 the opportunity, in addition to their activities in other choirs and ensembles, to get to know important works of choral literature and to make them professionally in several work phases per year.

The singers usually meet twice a year and work out a concert program for each project . The two phases take place during the Whitsun and autumn holidays. The rehearsal locations are currently Ochsenhausen (autumn phases) and Trossingen (spring phases ). During the rehearsal phases, the singers are supervised by voice teachers. At the end of a work phase there is usually a concert tour to locations throughout Baden-Württemberg.

In addition to oratorio works, the choir has been particularly concerned with a cappella literature. So far the choir has mainly been conducted by Wolfgang Gönnenwein , Helmuth Rilling , Dan-Olof Stenlund , Martin Schmidt and Frieder Bernius . Concert tours led to Scandinavia (1989), Hungary (1991), Russia (1992), Poland (1992), Hungary (1993) and Scandinavia (1998, 2003). Furthermore, several CDs have been produced in recent years.

The artistic director of the choir is currently Dan-Olof Stenlund ( Malmö , Sweden ), the organizational director Daniel Roos ( Freiburg im Breisgau ).
