The Brandenburg Youth Choir (LJC Brandenburg) is a project choir of young people and young adults from Brandenburg . It was founded in 1992 by the Brandenburg State Music Council ; until 2016 it was headed by Hans-Peter Schurz . Claudia Jennings has been heading it since 2017 . In around five work phases per year, the 30 or so young singers study choral pieces from all eras.
The choir is funded by the Brandenburg Ministry of Science, Research and Culture.
The Brandenburg Youth Choir is supported by the voice trainer Siegfried Meseck.
Like other regional youth choirs, the choir regularly gives concerts abroad, for example in the Czech Republic, France, Latvia, Austria, Italy, Brazil, Turkey or Norway.
Chronology of the projects
1990s
- June 1993: Founding concert of the choir at the Rheinsberg Music Academy
- 1994: Participation in the 11th International Choir Competition in Vienna , Austria
- 1996: Concert tour to France
- 1998: Participation in the International Choir Competition in Prague , Czech Republic (1st place)
2000s
- 2001: 2nd Symphony by Gustav Mahler in collaboration with the Jeunesse Musicales World Orchestra in Berlin
- June 2005: Final concert for the 4th Brandenburg State Choir Competition
- September 2005: Concert tour to Riga , Latvia
- June 2006: Gunther Erdmann memorial concert in the Berlin Philharmonie (on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of his death)
- April 2007: Anniversary concert for the 15th anniversary of the Brandenburg State Youth Choir in Potsdam
- September 2007: Concert tour to Italy
- 2008: Concert tour to Brazil
- November 2009: Participation in the "2nd International Istanbul Choir Days", Turkey
- November 2009: Concert and CD production on the occasion of the 70th birthday of the late composer Gunther Erdmann at the RBB
2010s
- July 2010: Performance of “ Misa Criolla ” by Ariel Ramírez with the instrumental group “Andriegos de pancho” ( Chile )
- September 2010: Concert tour to Oslo , Norway for the 30th anniversary of the German School there
- September 2011: Concert tour to Chile
