The State Youth Choir Saxony-Anhalt was founded in 1994 to give talented young singers from Saxony-Anhalt the opportunity to get to know challenging choral works in projects . It is sponsored by the State Music Council of Saxony-Anhalt and is funded by the state.

The choir was from 1994 to 2001 under the direction of Frederick Krell and is since 2001 the church music director of the Halle Church Music Academy , Wolfgang Kupke headed.

There are two regular work phases per year in which the choir members spend a week intensively familiarizing themselves with various choral literature.

In 2004 and 2009, in cooperation with the Lower Saxony State Youth Choir, oratorios by Handel were performed in Göttingen as part of the international Handel Festival in Göttingen and Halle as part of the Handel Festival in Halle .

A particular highlight are the concerts in Brussels , Belgium , which have been taking place at Christmas time since 1995 , including the performance of Bach's Christmas Oratorio 2004 in the Brussels Cathedral .
